Nick Cave Dance Lab

Bell's week long residency at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit with a group of nine dancers, a composer, and a group of musicians began with opening a sealed box of visual artist Nick Cave's soundsuits and wearable sculptural objects. Cranbrook Art Museum initiated the series of Dance Labs with local Detroit based choreographers during his exhibition, Nick Cave: Here Hear, in Bloomfield Hills, MI. The residency culminated in a 45 minute dance piece performed onsite at the Dequindre Cut, a former railroad track cum recessed walking and biking path which connects Detroit's Eastern Market and the Downtown Riverfront. This performance was presented by Cranbrook Art Museum in partnership with the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.
