backbody (2022)

Through a three-hour open improvisational score involving sound, movement, duration, and the space of Galerie Camille, Biba Bell and Jon Brumit drop into spaces of exhilaration and exhaustion, divergence, and the underside of language. backbody is loosely inspired bythe partner-oriented somatic practice of Authentic Movement, involving moving with one's eyes closed alongside active witnessing. Audience are invited to come and go and stay as long as they desire. Looking for the Light is an art exhibition and event series dedicated to the destigmatization of mental illness. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month (May) the event’s mission is to confront the issue of mental illness in a celebratory, informational, and inspiring way – eschewing stigmatization and promoting help options. The event will be a three-week offering of art, counsel, education and celebrates the creative passion of artists who have faced mental health challenges.
